Dhaka: The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 today set October 26, 2025, for submitting the probe report in a case against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and others over alleged enforced disappearances and killings during the more than 15-year rule of the Awami League (AL).

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the three-member panel of ICT-1, led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order as the prosecution sought two more months to file the report. The tribunal’s decision follows ongoing investigations into the alleged crimes committed under the AL’s administration.

During today’s hearing, Major General (sacked) Ziaul Ahsan, the former director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC) and one of the accused in the case, was present in the tribunal. Other notable figures accused include Major General (Retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, who previously served as the defence and security adviser to Sheikh Hasina, and former Inspector General of Police Benzir Ahmed.

Representing the state, Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim appeared during the hearing, emphasizing the significance of the investigation and the necessity for additional time to ensure a thorough and comprehensive report. The tribunal has been tasked with examining the allegations of human rights violations, which have been a point of contention and concern for both national and international observers.
