Teknaf: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) conducted two separate raids in the Alir Dail and Khorermukh areas of the Teknaf border in Cox’s Bazar, arresting three individuals, including two women. The operation resulted in the seizure of 90,000 pieces of Yaba tablets and 28 kilograms of marijuana.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BGB’s Teknaf Battalion (2 BGB) acted on secret information suggesting a large consignment of drugs was set to enter Bangladesh via sea from Myanmar. In response, the battalion launched a special operation. Several BGB patrol teams were strategically stationed on the Naf River and coastal areas, including the beach adjacent to Marine Drive, late Tuesday night to intercept the drug traffickers.
The BGB personnel, after conducting thorough intelligence activities, arrested Minara Begum, aged 35, and Md. Kefayet Ullah, aged 19. The arrest took place at Minara Begum’s residence in the Alir Dail area under Sabrang Union around 6 a.m. on Tuesday, where 90,000 pieces of Yaba tablets were seized.
In a separate operation, BGB members apprehended another individual, Jamila Begum, at her house in the Khorermukh area of Teknaf, along with 28 kilograms of marijuana. All the arrested individuals and the confiscated items have been handed over to the Teknaf Police Station for further action.
Teknaf Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Md. Ashikur Rahman stated that BGB personnel are executing their duties with professionalism and dedication to uphold a zero-tolerance policy against drugs while ensuring border security. He emphasized that such special operations will continue in the future to safeguard national security and serve the public interest.
