Dinajpur: The government today took a significant step towards improving the socio-economic conditions of small ethnic group communities in Phulbari upazila by distributing heifer calves to 70 families. This initiative aims to elevate the living standards of these communities residing in the plain lands of the region.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) M Ishaq Ali led the distribution ceremony, which took place at the upazila Animal Resources Office and Veterinary Hospital. The interim government’s distribution of cows is part of a broader strategy to foster self-reliance among these underprivileged groups. Each family received 20 kg of cow feed alongside the heifer calves to support initial rearing efforts.
The distribution covered 70 beneficiary families spread across seven unions of Phulbari upazila. The event was attended by prominent figures including Major Sheikh Arman Ibne Idris, the Army Officer in charge of Phulbari upazila, Animal Resources Officer Dr. Md. Sarwar Hasan, Veterinary Surgeon Dr. Sajeeb Hawlader, and Officer-in-Charge of Phulbari Police Station Inspector AKM Khandaker Muhibbul. Additionally, Upazila BNP President Md. Nabiul Islam and Municipal BNP President Abul Bashar were present to witness the distribution efforts.
