Dhaka: Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today highlighted the crucial role of making innovations accessible to villagers to harness their benefits. “If the future generations become aware about fisheries and livestock, the country will move forward. For the development of the country, innovative ideas should be collected from the field level,” she stated, speaking as the chief guest at the ‘Innovation Showcase 2025’ event organized by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock at its conference room in the city, as per a press release.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Farida urged all departments under the ministry to contribute more innovative ideas moving forward. She cited examples of innovative practices, such as preserving rice with water to prevent spoilage and using lemon leaves to make rotting fish edible, both of which originated from women. She emphasized the importance of increasing women’s participation in innovation activities.

The event also featured speeches from other notable figures, including Md Tofajzel Hossain, Secretary (Routine Duties) of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, and Md Imam Uddin Kabir, Additional Secretary and Chief Innovation Officer of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, who contributed their insights on the occasion.
