Dhaka: Chief Adviser’s Press Wing today debunked a recent report of Indian television channel Aaj Tak Bangla on Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. The report alleged the circulation of a secret picture involving the Chief Adviser and Bangladesh Police members during Police Week.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the press wing clarified in a Facebook post on its verified page, CA Press Wing Facts, that the picture in question was publicly shared and depicted the awarding of medals to Bangladesh Police members by the Chief Adviser. The report from Aaj Tak Bangla had inaccurately claimed that the picture was secret and attempted to draw comparisons between the police uniforms and those of Pakistani generals, questioning the identity of the individuals with whom Prof Yunus was shaking hands.

The press wing detailed that 62 members of the Bangladesh Police were recognized for their outstanding contributions to service at Rajarbagh Police Lines on April 29. The photograph showed police officers, including Additional Inspector Generals Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, Md Chibgat Ullah, and Deputy Inspector General Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim, receiving the Bangladesh Police Medal for their meritorious service.

Emphasizing the transparency of the event, the press wing stated that the image was officially distributed to media outlets from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing. The report by Aaj Tak Bangla was labeled as inaccurate, further accused of spreading false propaganda involving the Bangladesh Army.

The press wing condemned the report as part of a planned propaganda effort against Bangladesh, calling it highly condemnable and urging for responsible journalism.
