Dhaka: The ‘World Health Day’ will be observed tomorrow in a befitting manner across the country. On this occasion, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Directorate General of Health Services, and non-governmental development organizations working in the field of health have organized various programs. Bangladesh is gearing up to celebrate the day this year in light of the theme set by the World Health Organization, which is ‘Science in Health Care, Protecting All Lives’.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the United Nations Economic and Social Council decided in February 1946 to convene an International Health Conference. This conference took place in June and July of the same year, resulting in the adoption of the World Health Organization’s constitution. The constitution came into force on 7 April 1948, and since then, this day has been designated as World Health Day, celebrated both locally and internationally.
To mark the day, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has organized a discussion at the Abu Sayeed Convention Center in Shahbagh tomorrow at 10:30 am. Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain will be present as the chief guest at the meeting, while State Minister for Health Dr MA Muhith will attend as a special guest.
In addition, the National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh has planned to observe a week-long service week from April 7 to 13. Alongside medical services, various awareness programs are scheduled throughout the week. As part of these activities, the foundation will organize a seminar on the topic of ‘Sports increase life, heart remains strong’ tomorrow. State Minister for the Ministry of Youth and Sports Md Aminul Haque will be present as the chief guest at the seminar.
