Teknaf Land Port Resumes Operations Following Myanmar Conflict Suspension

Teknaf: State Minister for Shipping Md. Razib Ahsan today announced that operations at the Teknaf Land Port in Cox’s Bazar have resumed after a prolonged suspension due to the conflict in Myanmar. He said, “Activities to resume the land port have been initiated. We have already held discussions with traders, BGB, Coast Guard and others. After consulting all stakeholders including C and F agents, Customs, and NBR, operations have been restarted from today in response to public demand.”



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister made the remark after visiting the Naf River-adjacent land port in the Keruntali area under Sadar Union of Teknaf upazila at around 11:30 am today. He emphasized the importance of maintaining trade activities and stated that border trade would be conducted through coordination between the governments of Myanmar and Bangladesh. Based on this coordination, the operations of Teknaf Land Port have been resumed.



Chairman of the Land Port Authority (Additional Secretary) Mohammad Manjarul Mannan commented on the situation, stating that despite the port being officially open, there had been some security shortcomings. However, he noted that there are currently no major obstacles to import and export activities, and port operations are being resumed in coordination with law enforcement agencies.



Earlier, the State Minister inspected the Teknaf Land Port and its facilities, held a meeting with officials of the concerned agencies and members of law enforcement agencies. The visit was attended by Shipping Ministry Secretary Dr. Nurunnahar Chowdhury, Commanding Officer of Teknaf 2 BGB Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Md Hanifur Rahman Bhuiyan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Imamul Hafiz Nadim, and Additional Superintendent of Police of Cox’s Bazar Md Rakib Uddin.
