Workshop on innovative pilot projects on citizen services held

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2017 (BSS) - A day-long workshop and exhibition regarding review of innovative pilot projects on citizen services was held yesterday at the auditorium of Department of Social Services (DSS).

Organized jointly by Cabinet Division, DSS and Access to Information (a2i) programme of Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the workshop titled "Workshop on Service Innovation in DSS: Capturing Best Practices" was inaugurated by PMO Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury.

Presided over by DSS director general Gazi Mohammad Nurul Kabir, the inauguration ceremony was also addressed by Cabinet Secretary (coordination and reform) NM Ziaul Alam, Youth and Sports Secretary Kazi Akhtar Uddin Ahmed, Social Welfare Secretary Md Zillar Rahman and a2i policy adviser Anir Chowdhury as special guests.

A total of 36 pilot ideas were showcased at the workshop, while development in implementation of innovative pilot projects was reviewed, replication in larger scale and things to do next were identified.

Four innovative initiatives have already been replicated and decisions have been taken to replicate 14 initiatives throughout the country. Piloting of other initiatives will also continue and decisions regarding replication will be taken in next review workshop.

Capacity development specialist Manik Mahmud of a2i programme conducted the function, which was also attended by officials of Cabinet Division, DSS and a2i.
