Magura: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)’s Magura District Unit former member and former vice-president of Sreepur Upazila BNP, veteran politician Md. Rustam Ali Khan, has died due to old age complications at his village home. He was 85 years old and a resident of Tuppara village in Sreepur upazila of Magura.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rustam Ali is survived by nine sons, a daughter, and several grandchildren. A staunch believer in the principles and ideals of former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam, Rustam Ali was known for his dedication to the Bangladeshi nationalist philosophy. He worked tirelessly to strengthen and energize the Sreepur Upazila BNP, actively participating in the democratic movement under the leadership of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Rustam Ali was a committed public representative who focused on the development of his area. Until his death, he served as the President of Sreekol Union BNP of Sree
pur upazila. In addition to his political engagements, he was recognized as an all-acceptable person and a social worker by the local community.
The news of his death has been met with deep shock and sorrow by Magura District BNP leaders, including Kazi Salimul Haque Kamal, Manwar Hossain Khan, Ali Ahmed, Iqbal Aktar Khan Kafur, as well as other local leaders of BNP. Various political, social, and cultural organizations, including the Sreepur Press Club, have also expressed their condolences.
Family sources reported that Rustam Ali was laid to rest at his family graveyard, following a namaz-e-janaza at the Tuppara Eidgah Maidan after Asr prayers.
