Dhaka: bKash, the country’s largest mobile financial services (MFS) provider, has clinched two prestigious awards at the “Visa Payment Excellence Awards-2024” for its notable contributions to the digital payment ecosystem. The awards recognize the company’s success in facilitating digital transactions and its innovative approaches within the industry.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, bKash has been honored in the “Wallet Partnership” category for the third consecutive year by enabling the highest volume of transactions through its bKash wallet. Moreover, the company achieved recognition in the “Product Innovation” category for introducing a direct Visa payment facility from the bKash app, as stated in a press release.
The awards ceremony, held recently at a local hotel, saw Nishat Rahman, chief customer service officer of bKash, receiving the accolades from Rafeza Akhter, Director of Bangladesh Bank’s Payment System Department. The event also featured notable attendees such as Ashik Chowdhury, exe
cutive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), James Gardiner, foreign service officer at the US Department of State, Sandeep Ghosh, group country manager of Visa India and South Asia, Sabbir Ahmed, Visa country manager for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, and Adnan Kabir Rocky, head of Banking Partnership and Operations of bKash, among other senior officials.
