UGC Chairman Emphasizes Adherence to Financial Regulations in Project Execution.

Dhaka: University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) Chairman Professor Dr. SMA Faiz today urged officials involved in project implementation to adhere strictly to the government’s financial regulations. ‘All should strictly follow the government’s financial regulations in the expenditure of UGC’s project, being implemented for improvement of quality higher education,’ he stated.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chairman’s remarks were made during two separate meetings of the Project Implementation Committee (PEC) held at the UGC office. He emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the execution of projects and encouraged sincere efforts to ensure their timely completion, despite initial delays.

The PEC meetings focused on two significant initiatives: the Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HIT) project and the Improving Computer and Software Engineering Tertiary Education Project (ICSETEP). Attendees included UGC members Prof Dr. Mohammad Tanzimuddin Khan
and Prof Dr. Mohammad Anwar Hossen, BUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Abu Borhan Mohammad Badruzzaman, Vice-Chancellor of Jessore University of Science and Technology Prof Dr. Md Abdul Majeed, Treasurer of Dhaka University Prof Dr. M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, UCG Director of Planning and Development Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan, HIT Project Director Prof Dr. Asaduzzaman, ICSETEP Project Director Prof Dr. Md Aminul Haque Akand, Additional Director of Planning and Development Shah Mohammad Aminul Islam, and various ministry representatives.

During the meetings, Prof Asaduzzaman and Prof Aminul Haque Akand provided updates on the progress of the HIT and ICSETEP projects, respectively, highlighting achievements and ongoing challenges in the project’s execution.
