Bandarban: Two newly built Temporary Operational Bases (TOBs) have been inaugurated in Arachchhatala Tila and Haturani Tila in Ghumdhum Union of Naikhongchhari upazila, Bandarban, to strengthen border surveillance along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border. Brigadier General Kazi Shamsher Uddin, Commander of the BGB Cox's Bazar Region, inaugurated the bases on Wednesday morning.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Region Commander inspected the facilities and provided instructions to BGB personnel deployed at the bases. He emphasized the importance of vigilance and urged the personnel to carry out their duties with professionalism and competence. The newly established bases are expected to enhance the effectiveness of BGB surveillance and patrols along the border.
The bases aim to bolster efforts in preventing drug trafficking, smuggling, and illegal infiltration, while also improving security for residents in border areas. They are designed to enable the BGB to respond quickly to incidents in remote and high-risk border regions. The inauguration was attended by Colonel Md Anwar-ul-Alam, Sector Commander of the BGB Ramu Sector, and Lt Col SM Khairul Alam, Commander of Cox's Bazar Battalion (34 BGB).
