Puthia: Two individuals have been apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi, along with various types of illegal drugs, stolen goods, and mobile recharge cards. A team from the Crime Prevention Special Company (CPSC) of RAB-5 executed the operation in the Dhopapara Mohanpur area of the upazila on Saturday night.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested individuals have been identified as Mizanur Rahman, 25, from Dhopapara Mohanpur village, and Mithun Ali, 33, from Dhopapara Jiupara village. RAB reports indicate that Mithun Ali was involved in selling stolen medicine and other items from his grocery store in Dhopapara market.
A press release from RAB-5 revealed that on Saturday afternoon, intelligence was gathered regarding the storage of illegal drugs and stolen goods at Mithun Ali's shop and Mizanur Rahman's residence in Dhopapara village. Consequently, a raid was conducted at Mizanur's house around 6 pm, resulting in his detention.
The operation at Mizanur's residence led to the recovery of 20 Tapentadol tablets, 19 Neupomax Filgrastim BP 30 MU/0.5 ml injections, 21 Genim Cefepime 1 gram injections, and several other pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical items. Additionally, an assortment of SIM cards, mobile recharge cards, electronic devices, and various other goods were confiscated.
Later, around 7:30 pm, a separate operation was conducted at Mithun Ali's grocery shop in Dhopapara market, where 399 liters of stolen fortified soybean oil and 498 pieces of Ruta Res 100 ml growth promoter syrup were seized. It was revealed that Mithun Ali had been selling these stolen goods to unsuspecting customers.
Further investigations uncovered that under Mizanur Rahman's leadership, an inter-district theft gang was stealing goods from moving trucks using various methods and then selling them. Mizanur Rahman has multiple cases filed against him in police stations nationwide.
RAB has filed a regular case against the duo at Puthia police station under the Narcotics Control Act and relevant sections of the Penal Code in connection with the illegal activities. Both individuals were remanded to jail through the court on Sunday.
