Turning Youths into Skilled Manpower Stressed to Accelerate Progress.

Rangpur: Officials in a discussion have emphasized the importance of imparting technical education and training to the youth to transform them into skilled manpower, thereby accelerating national progress. The discussion was jointly organized by the district administration and the Department of Youth Development (DYD) in observance of National Youth Day-2024 at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference in the city.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly appointed Divisional Commissioner, Md Shahidul Islam, addressed the discussion as the chief guest, with Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Foysal presiding over the event. The discussion also saw contributions from Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range Police Md Aminul Islam, who attended as a special guest. DYD Deputy Director Md Abdul Farooque and female entrepreneur Farhana Begum, among others, also addressed the gathering.

Speakers at the event emphasized the necessity of turning all youths into a skilled workforce by providing them with tec
hnical education and training. This approach is aimed at enhancing their knowledge, skills, and self-confidence, which, in turn, would boost productivity and contribute to national advancement. The chief guest underscored that there is no substitute for training, highlighting that there are about six crore youths and young women in the country, all of whom should contribute to nation-building.

In his remarks, the chief guest recalled the significant role of student movements in shaping the new Bangladesh, noting the country’s enhanced international reputation. He expressed a collective desire to build a Bangladesh free from discrimination. Additionally, he mentioned that the present interim government is considering reopening closed industries, mills, and factories to create employment opportunities for the unemployed.

The chief guest also urged the youth to take initiative in stopping child marriage and trafficking of women in the country. At the conclusion of the program, certificates and cheques were dis
tributed among 21 trainee youths. Following the discussion, KD Canal in the Chikley Beel area of the city was cleaned.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner attended another event at the youth development training center as the chief guest, where he planted saplings of various tree species.
