Sadullapur: A month-long vaccination campaign targeting Human Papillomavirus (HPV) has been in full swing in Sadullapur Upazila, mirroring efforts in other areas of the district since October 24. The initiative aims to immunize 13,000 girls aged 10-14, specifically those studying in grades 5 to 9 within the upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, efforts are being made to include girls who are not currently enrolled in schools in the campaign. So far, approximately 500 out-of-school girls have been identified to receive the vaccine. The upazila health department recently organized a vaccination camp at KM Govt. Girls’ High School in Sadullapur, which saw significant participation.
The event was graced by UNO Kaosar Habib as the chief guest, with Dr. Shahinul Islam Mondal, the upazila health and family planning officer, presiding over the ceremony. Other notable attendees included medical officer Abu Bakar Siddique, upazila secondary education officer Abul Hossain, upazila primary education office
r Khairul Islam, and sanitary inspector Golam Rabbani.
Dr. Shahinul Islam Mondal encouraged the young girls to receive the vaccine without hesitation, emphasizing its role in protecting them from cervical cancer throughout their lives. Kaosar Habib called on all involved parties to ensure the campaign’s success, underscoring its importance in fostering a healthier female population and ultimately a healthier nation.
