Dhaka: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder emphasized that the elimination of discrimination in society is only achievable through the establishment of true democracy. He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and prayer meeting held at the Dhakeshwari National Temple in the capital, marking the anniversary of the historic July Uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dr. Bidhan stated, “The state does not divide its citizens or segregate their rights. In a modern, democratic nation, every citizen is equal. This is the very foundation of democracy.” He urged the public to uphold the values for which the martyrs of the July Uprising gave their lives, emphasizing the need to work toward building a non-discriminatory state to honor their sacrifice.
The program was presided over by Jayanta Kumar Deb, President of the Metropolitan Universal Puja Committee. Basudeb Dhar of the Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Professor Chandranath Poddar from the Department of Mathematics at Dhaka University also spoke on the occasion, contributing to the call for a society built on equality and democratic principles.
