Yangon: Bangladesh women’s football team made history by securing their first-ever qualification for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026. Their qualification was clinched after a remarkable 2-1 victory over host Myanmar in their second group match at the Thuwunna Stadium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the victory has significantly enhanced the team’s prospects, confirming their place in the Asian Cup. Later in the day, a 2-2 draw between Turkmenistan and Bahrain in another group match cemented Bangladesh’s top position in Group C with six points.
Bangladesh will face Turkmenistan in their final group match on Saturday at the same venue. The Women’s Asian Cup final round is set to take place next year in Australia.
