Gazipur:Police have arrested the alleged mastermind of a human trafficking syndicate and his associate, accused of sending a man to Malaysia using fake visas after promising to send him to Italy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the suspects, identified as Subodh Chandra Das, 31, and Shimul Chandra Das, 37, were detained in separate operations. Subodh was apprehended in the Titarkul area of Gazipur around 12:30 am, while Shimul was arrested from a rented house in the Tauyadi area of Narsingdi Sadar around 3:30 am.
The arrests followed allegations made by Abdur Rouf, 33, of Narsingdi Sadar, who claimed that the accused took Tk 21.98 lakh from him, promising to facilitate his travel to Italy. Instead, he was allegedly sent to Malaysia with fake Malaysian and French visas.
Police reported that both suspects have given confessional statements before a court under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Abul Khayer, a police inspector with the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Narsingdi, stated that preliminary evidence supports the allegations. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals implicated in the case.
