Satkhira: Import and export activities at the Bhomra land port in Satkhira resumed this morning after a six-day suspension due to Shardiya Durga Puja, a significant religious festival for Hindus. The reopening brought a return of activity to the port area, with Indian goods-laden trucks entering Bhomra and Bangladeshi export trucks heading to India’s Ghojadanga land port.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Abu Hasan, president of the Bhomra Land Port C and F Agents Association, stated that the Ghojadanga C and F Agents Cargo Welfare Association in India had informed them in writing about the suspension of import and export activities from September 28 to October 2 in observance of Durga Puja. Additionally, trade operations were halted on October 3 due to the weekly holiday in Bangladesh, totaling six days of inactivity.

The cross-border trade between Bangladesh and India resumed on October 4, restoring the usual operations at the port. The Officer-in-Charge of Bhomra Immigration Police, Rasheduzzaman, noted that while trade activities were on hold, passport-holding travelers continued border crossings as usual.

Mizanur Rahman, Revenue Officer of Bhomra Customs, confirmed that trade activities resumed following a mutual decision between traders from both countries.
