Kuwait City: Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossin today urged nations equipped with advanced technology to share their expertise in order to foster a globally coordinated approach to combating terrorism. “In today’s interconnected world, no society is truly safe until every society is safe,” he stated during the Ministerial Session of the High-Level Conference on “Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms” held in Kuwait City.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Touhid is currently leading the Bangladesh delegation at this two-day high-level conference, which commenced today. The foreign adviser emphasized the need for responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in security and border management, ensuring that AI respects human rights and is adapted to local contexts.

Touhid reiterated Bangladesh’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy against terrorism, highlighting the country’s dedication to global security collaborations and adherence to United Natio
ns conventions. He also stressed the importance of a human rights-centered approach to counter-terrorism, warning against the political misuse of security measures and emphasizing Bangladesh’s ongoing reforms to safeguard fundamental freedoms.

Concluding his address, the adviser emphasized the significance of multilateralism in counter-terrorism efforts, asserting that true security can only be achieved when every society is protected. The conference marks the fourth iteration of the Dushanbe Process, an initiative launched in 2018 to enhance collaboration on counter-terrorism and border security among Central Asian countries. Notably, this conference expands the scope and impact of the Dushanbe Process beyond Central Asia for the first time, aligning with efforts to reinforce the implementation of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
