Government Appoints 20 Special Public Prosecutors in BDR Mutiny Explosive Case.

Dhaka: The government has appointed 20 special public prosecutors (PPs) in an Explosive Substances Act case filed with Lalbagh Police Station concerning the 2009 BDR mutiny. The appointments were formalized through a notification issued by the solicitor wing of the Law and Justice Division on November 3.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the list of newly appointed special public prosecutors includes Md Borhan Uddin, Forhad Niyon, Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, Mst Robhana Nasrin Shefali, Mohammad Jahangir Hossain, Md Mohiuddin Chowdhury, Md Shafiul Boshor Sajal, Golam Moktadir Uzzal, Hannan Bhuiyan, Md Abdul Latif, Md Mehedi Hasan Jewel, Gazi Mashkurul Alam Sourabh, Md Helel Uddin, Md Zillur Rahman, Md Mahfujur Rahman Ilias, Md Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Md Mehebub Hossain, Md Mizanur Rahman Shihab, Md Khurshid Alam, and Ajgar Hossain. Of these, Md Borhan Uddin will hold the status and benefits of an additional attorney general. Meanwhile, Forhad Niyon and Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan will have the status and benef
its of deputy attorney generals, and the remaining 17 special public prosecutors will enjoy the status and benefits of assistant attorney generals.

Previously, on September 9, 2024, the government had cancelled the appointment of 17 special public prosecutors in the same case, indicating ongoing adjustments and updates within the legal framework handling the BDR mutiny case.
