Sunamganj: A farmer was killed when a thunderbolt hit him at Atani Bil under Shalla upazila of the district today. The deceased was Rinku Das, 30, son of late Randhir Das, a resident of Gopalpur village under Charnarchar union in Dirai upazila of the district.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, lightning followed by a rainstorm struck Rinku around 1.30 pm while he was in the field carrying paddy. In the aftermath of the incident, Rinku was rushed to Dirai Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dirai Police Station Abdur Razzak confirmed the unfortunate incident, marking yet another casualty due to severe weather conditions in the region.
