Tarique Rahman Stands by July Uprising Martyr Rabbi’s Family in Magura.

Magura: A delegation of ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ today provided financial assistance to family members of martyrs and injured individuals from the July mass uprising in Magura. On behalf of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman and Chief Patron of Amra BNP Paribar, Tarique Rahman, the delegation visited the residence of Magura district unit Chhatra Dal leader Mehedi Hasan Rabbi, who was shot dead during the students-led mass movement this afternoon, and engaged with his family.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, financial assistance was extended to each family of 10 martyrs in Magura, including the family of Shaheed Rabbi, as well as to the family of one injured person. A press release confirmed this support. BNP treasurer and ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ adviser M Rashiduzzaman Millat attended the views exchange program at Barunatail village of Magura municipality as the chief guest. Atiqur Rahman Rumon, convener of ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ and member of BNP media cell, was present as the special guest.

ral notable figures attended the event, including former student leader Engineer Hasnain Manzur Morshed Imon, ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ members Masud Rana Liton, Mustakim Billah, Farhad Ali Sajeeb, and Shahadat Hossain. Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central Vice-President Habibul Bashar, Joint Secretary Hasnain Nahian Sajeeb, Private University Unit of Chhatra Dal Joint General Secretary Moshiur Rahman Mohan, Dhaka College Unit of Chhatra Dal Literary and Publication Secretary Abdullah Al Misbah, Magura District BNP former Convener Ali Ahmed, its former Member Secretary Valiant Freedom Fighter Aktar Hossain, District BNP former Joint Convener Alamgir Hossain, and Magura Sadar Upazila BNP convener Kutubuddin also participated.

The press release recounted the events of August 4, when Mehedi Hasan Rabbi was at the forefront of a procession aiming to protect the protesting students. Rabbi, a senior joint convener of Magura District Chhatra Dal, was killed as Chhatra League and Jubo League affiliates reportedly opened fire o
n the procession. Approximately 20 people were injured in the incident, including Rabbi’s nephew, Khalid Biswas.

Rabbi, the son of late Mayen Uddin Biswas of Barunatail village, had married Rumi Khatun in May of this year. His wife and younger brother, Idris Hossain Biswas, stated that Rabbi was not killed by police but by gunfire from leaders and activists of the Chhatra League-Jubo League. The release highlighted the tragic fact that Rabbi’s unborn child will never meet his father, who is remembered as a martyr in the democratic movement against tyranny.

The sacrifice made by Rabbi in the effort to establish a fair political environment and democracy will be remembered by the people of the country.
