Khulna: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Professor Mia Golam Parwar today emphasized the need for unity among all democratic political parties to combat what he described as the defeated fascist forces, maintaining the spirit of the August 5 revolution. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Parwar accused Sheikh Hasina of attempting to create instability in the country through various conspiracies after fleeing the nation. He claimed that the former autocrat is plotting a return to power via a counter-revolution. Parwar, a former parliament member, delivered these remarks during a view-exchange meeting with journalists at the Humayun Kabir Balu auditorium of the Khulna Press Club (KPC). "We will resist these evil forces based on national consensus in the spirit of August 5," Parwar asserted. He also highlighted that while a search committee has been formed to establish an Election Commission, crucial reforms are necessary in several state sectors to ensure a free, fair, participatory, and im partial election. "It is not possible to move forward without carrying out a fundamental reform in judiciary, administration and constitution," he added. The meeting was attended by KPC convener Enamul Haque, member secretary Rafiul Islam Tutul, member of the central working committee and assistant secretary of Jamaat in Khulna region Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, regional team member master Shafiqul Alam, members of central majlis-e-sura and Khulna city unit Ameer Prof Mahfuzur Rahman, district unit Ameer Moulana Emran Hussain, city unit secretary general advocate Sheikh Zahangir Hossain Helal, and district unit secretary Munshi Mizanur Rahman, among others. Later, Parwar presented a cheque of Tk 300,000 to the KPC executive committee on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman for the development of the press club.
