Sylhet’s Transformation into a Modern City Announced by Minister

Sylhet: Industries and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir today announced plans to transform Sylhet into a modern and vibrant city with the collective effort of all its residents. The announcement was made during a meeting held at the City Corporation Bhaban, where the minister emphasized the importance of community cooperation in achieving this vision.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister outlined that development work is progressing according to planned initiatives aimed at creating a lively environment, promoting cultural diversity, and boosting economic activities in Sylhet. He encouraged the residents to work together to develop Sylhet into a modern tourist city, highlighting the significance of addressing challenges such as water logging to prevent low-lying areas from becoming uninhabitable in the future.



The meeting was chaired by Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury, who urged residents to collaborate in turning Sylhet into a green and clean city equipped with all modern amenities. City Corporation Secretary Md Ashik Noor moderated the meeting, while Chief Executive Officer of the city corporation Mohammad Rezai Rafin Sarkar delivered the welcome speech. Industry Secretary Md Obaidur Rahman also spoke at the event as a special guest.



Several ongoing development projects were showcased at the meeting, including efforts to mitigate water logging, the design of the Lal Dighi Par Super Market, and the proposed interior design of Nagar Bhaban.
