Chittagong: A fire that broke out at the Chittagong Shopping Complex, located near the city’s Sholashahar Gate No 2 area, this morning was brought under control after approximately one and a half hours of frantic efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the fire service control room received the alert at 9:40 am today. In response, five units from two separate stations were dispatched immediately to the scene.
Anwar Hossain, assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed that while the flames have been extinguished, a heavy blanket of smoke remains trapped inside the market. “The fire is under control and our firefighters are currently working through the smoke to conduct a thorough search,” the official stated.
“The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined as investigations continue,” he said, adding that a full report will be provided after a thorough investigation.
