Dhaka: Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumdar emphasized the crucial role of survey and settlement in ensuring effective land services during the inauguration ceremony of the '141st Survey and Settlement Training Course' held at Karim Jute Mills Limited in Demra, Dhaka.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Majumdar highlighted that every living entity on earth is intrinsically linked to the land, which serves as a shared wealth for all life forms. He urged responsible land usage that respects natural habitats and biodiversity. Addressing the gathering, he underscored the significance of the 52-day training program organized by the Department of Land Records and Survey, which saw participation from 60 trainees across various BCS cadres and Judicial Service officers.
Majumdar stressed the necessity for officers to possess professional skills, technical knowledge, and practical experience to effectively execute survey and settlement tasks. He remarked that these activities are pivotal to land administration, enabling accurate ownership determination and record maintenance. The training is designed to impart modern survey techniques, enhancing the speed, accuracy, and transparency of land survey activities.
He further elaborated that settlement training equips officials with the skills required to prepare, update, and preserve land records, thereby minimizing disputes and encroachments. This training fosters a sense of responsibility and integrity among officials, contributing to improved transparency and quality of public service in land management.
Majumdar also pointed out that the training provides practical fieldwork knowledge, making participants proficient in land measurement, map drawing, and record correction. He termed the Survey and Settlement Training as a cornerstone for developing efficient and people-friendly land management systems, advocating it as a duty for all land officers.
Highlighting the diverse cadre participation, Majumdar noted that the training would build interpersonal relationships across different sectors, positively impacting future workplaces. The event featured addresses by Md. Mominur Rashid, Director of the Department of Land Records and Survey, and Md. Saidur Rahman, Director General of the Department, along with Md. Shahadat Hossain.
