Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) today announced a 10-day programme to observe the historic 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day,' commemorating the civil-military uprising on November 7, 1975. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir disclosed the planned activities during a press conference at the party's Nayapaltan central office following a joint meeting with the party's associate bodies.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting was attended by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General, Joint Secretary Generals, Conveners and Member Secretaries of the Dhaka Mohanagar (North and South), and the President or Convener and General Secretary and member secretary of the central affiliated bodies. The 10-day programme, running from November 5 to November 13, will commence with the hoisting of the party flag at the BNP Central Office in Naya Paltan and at party offices nationwide at 6:00 am on November 7. The day will also see floral tributes and the recitation of 'Fatiha' at Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman's grave at 10:00 am.
In addition, a rally will be held by the BNP Dhaka Mohanagar (North and South) in front of the BNP Central Office in Naya Paltan at 3:00 pm on November 7, with concurrent rallies taking place at district and upazila levels nationwide. The BNP's affiliated bodies plan to conduct various events, including discussion meetings and other initiatives.
Specifically, Sramik Dal and Chhatra Dal will hold discussions on November 5, with Chhatra Dal organizing photo exhibitions on November 7 and 8 at TSC on Dhaka University Campus. Olama Dal is set to distribute educational materials to orphan students on November 9, while Tanti Dal and Krishak Dal will hold discussions on November 10 and 11, respectively. Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS) will host a cultural event at Shaheed Minar in the evening.
BNP will also conduct a discussion meeting at the China-Friendship Conference Centre on November 12, as outlined in the programme schedule. Documentaries highlighting the significance of the day will be broadcast on electronic and social media platforms, with photographs published from November 6-13. Special supplements in national dailies will further underscore the importance of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
