Cox's bazar: Bangladesh's dependable Test batter Mominul Haque missed out on a century in his side's Chattogram's National Cricket League (NCL) match against Barishal at Cox's Bazar International Stadium today. He fell short by eight runs, a missed opportunity that could have provided a psychological boost ahead of Bangladesh's Test fixture against Ireland.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mominul will join the national team's practice session after this second-round match of NCL. His innings of 92, however, helped Chattogram post a total of 358 before being all out in their first innings. In response, Barishal made a strong reply, reaching 115-2 at stumps with Salman Emon batting on 47 and Zahiduzzaman Khan on 13.

Chattogram resumed the day on 260-4 but quickly lost their remaining six wickets for just 98 runs. Mominul, who was unbeaten on 82 runs overnight, managed to add only 10 more runs before his dismissal. His departure triggered a collapse, allowing Barishal to claw back into the contest.
