Gazipur:Strict action will be taken against those responsible for the theft of lemurs from the Gazipur Safari Park, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo announced on Friday.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Minister Mintoo instructed officials to ensure the proper care of the animals at the park. He made these comments while speaking to journalists during his visit to Bhawal National Park and Gazipur Safari Park.
During his visit, Mintoo emphasized that the development of Bhawal National Park is being prioritized with a focus on wildlife conservation. He also mentioned that initiatives will be taken soon to make the park more attractive to visitors.
The theft, which occurred on the night of March 23, 2025, involved three lemurs being taken from Gazipur Safari Park. It has been reported that two of these lemurs have been smuggled out of Bangladesh and located at a wildlife center in a neighboring country.
