Kushtia:A case has been filed against 20-25 unidentified individuals following an attack on Nasiruddin Patwary, chief coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP), at the Lalon Akhra.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Jannatul Ferdous Tony, the convener of the NCP's Kushtia district unit, lodged the complaint with the Kumarkhali Police Station. This was confirmed by Officer-in-Charge Jamal Uddin on Friday afternoon.
The case statement details that Nasiruddin Patwary visited the Chheuriya Akhrabari in Kumarakhali upazila on October 4 to listen to Lalon songs. As he and his associates were leaving around 815 pm, they were attacked by a group of unidentified individuals.
The attackers reportedly threw an egg and a stone at Patwary and then assaulted the group with sticks, bamboo poles, pipes, wooden battens, iron rods, stones, and other weapons. Several people were injured in the ambush.
The victims sought refuge inside the shrine, but the attackers pursued and continued their assault. The group also allegedly vandalized Patwary's vehicle in an attempt to prevent his safe departure.
Local residents, NCP members, and others eventually intervened, prompting the attackers to retreat to the main gate, where they continued to issue threats. With police and journalist assistance, Patwary and his group managed to leave the Akhrabari safely.
OC Jamal stated that no arrests had been made yet, but authorities are actively working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
