KHULNA Speakers at a seminar held here today underlined the importance of raising mass awareness to ensure strict enforcement of the Consumers' Right Protection Act, 2009, to free the common people from food poisoning, adulteration and contaminations .
The observation came at a seminar on 'Enhancing Public Awareness through Publicity of the Consumers' Right Protection Act, 2009,' held at the deputy commissioner (DC)'s conference room.
Khulna District Administration and Department of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) Khulna jointly organised the seminar where Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Helal Hossain attended as chief guest.
Presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ziaur Rahman, the seminar was addressed among others, by Deputy and Assistant Directors of DNCRP Mohammad SM Nazimul Islam and Shikdar Shahinur Alam.
Assistant Director of the Khulna DNCRP Shikdar Shahinur Alam briefed the participants with presentation of power point highlighting various aspects of the Consumers' Rights Protection Act, 2009.
Participating in a seminar DC urged the traders and representatives of the business bodies for adopting effective measures against supply and marketing of adulterated and poisonous foods to protect public health and save human lives .
