Dhaka: Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury announced today that measures will be implemented based on the recommendations from the committee investigating the Gopalganj incident. "A high powered committee was formed in this connection. The committee will find out who is responsible for that. Measures will be taken as per the recommendations of the committee," he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the home adviser addressed reporters after a visit to the Third Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. He discussed the status of the postmortem examinations related to the Gopalganj incident, mentioning that the postmortem of a man who died later in Dhaka is ongoing, while the bodies of others were previously removed. He indicated that postmortems for others could be conducted if necessary, even if it means exhuming bodies.
During his visit, Jahangir assessed the manpower needed to efficiently operate the new terminal to ensure seamless passenger services. He estimated that around 400 personnel might need to be recruited. He described the Third Terminal as having a high operational capacity and noted that 99.88 percent of its construction is complete.
Although the terminal's inauguration is anticipated soon, Jahangir refrained from providing a specific opening date, indicating that the civil aviation and tourism ministry would make that announcement.
