Sri Lanka Tourism Promotes Bilateral Relations with Media Networking Session in Dhaka

Dhaka: High Commissioner H.E. Dharmapala Weerakkody on Sunday emphasized the significant potential for enhancing the tourism sector between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. “This type of initiative will serve as a milestone for the growth of the tourism industry in both nations,” he remarked at a special ‘Media Networking Session’ held in the capital to foster tourism ties and improve coordination between tourism stakeholders from both countries.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) organized the event on Sunday afternoon at the ‘Kuakata’ Hall of Le Méridien Dhaka. The session was led by the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Bangladesh, with Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of the SLTPB, and Mohammad Rafuzzaman, President of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), in attendance as special guests.

During the event, a special destination presentation highlighted Sri Lanka’s various attractions, including luxury travel facilities, family travel options, and i
mproved air connectivity and accommodation facilities between the two nations. Buddhika Hewawasam pointed out that Sri Lanka is now regarded as one of the safest and most appealing tourism destinations globally, with more affordable packages and enhanced services being offered to Bangladeshi tourists.

TOAB President Mohammad Rafuzzaman commended the initiative for strengthening mutual relationships among tourism professionals and expressed optimism for future collaborative efforts. The event also included an interactive Q and A session with media representatives, where discussions centered on tourism prospects, airline connectivity, and the facilities available for travelers in Sri Lanka.

Additionally, an exclusive ‘B2B Roadshow’ and Networking Evening for tourism trade partners is scheduled for tomorrow, April 6, at the Grand Ballroom of the same hotel. The event will feature leading media professionals, tourism experts, and a high-level delegation from Sri Lanka, concluding with a networking dinner.
