Rajshahi: Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has taken steps to strengthen beat policing to build it public friendly. RMP Commissioner Mohammad Faizul Kabir in a meeting with police officers at RMP headquarters yesterday urged the officers to strengthen beat policing.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting included detailed discussions and reviews on ongoing beat policing activities at the thana level, anti-narcotics drives, public engagement with police, crime control, identifying and resolving existing obstacles in law enforcement, and providing prompt and desired policing services to the general public.
RMP Commissioner Faizul Kabir emphasized that speedy and harassment-free policing services must be ensured for the people. He highlighted the importance of maintaining professionalism, responsibility, and people-friendly behavior in every action of the police. He reiterated that there is no scope for police to intervene in land or property related disputes, although the safety of people's lives and property must be ensured.
The Commissioner called for the speedy disposal of various complaints and General Diaries (GD) through proper verification and investigation. Additionally, he stressed the need to free city roads and footpaths from the illegal occupation of hawkers to keep public movement smooth.
He instructed officials to remain vigilant against theft, mugging, and other crimes, and to strengthen regular and visible police patrols in the city. He also emphasized taking necessary measures to control sound pollution in residential areas after 10 PM.
Furthermore, directions were given to prevent the activities of drug dealers and juvenile gangs and to bring the members of such gangs under control. Senior officials of RMP attended the meeting.
