Speakers for sending skilled manpower abroad to increase remittance

GAIBANDHA Speakers at a seminar on Saturday laid emphasis on providing necessary skill training to the work force intending to go abroad for giving a boost to the country's remittance volume.

An awareness is very essential to the persons who are interested to go abroad as they are to face various problems and sufferings after going to abroad without having appropriate knowledge and consciousness, they said.

They made the comments while addressing a daylong seminar on efficiency and awareness for foreign employment organized by district administration at the conference room of deputy commissioner (DC) here in cooperation with Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry.

Jatiya Sangshad Whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini addressed the function as the chief guest with DC Abdul Matin in the chair.

Police super Towhidul Islam and civil surgeon Dr. ABM Abu Hanif, mayor of Gaibandha Municipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon also spoke at the event as special guests while ADC (General) Alamgir Kabir Saikat moderated the function.

Sadar upazila chairman Shah Sarwar Kabir, principal of Gaibandha Technical Training Center Atiqur Rahman and assistant director of district manpower and employment office Nesarul Haque addressed the seminar, among others.

Earlier, a key note paper on the subject was presented by deputy secretary (DS) of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ministry M. Aminur Rahman through a multimedia projector.

In his presentation, DS Aminur Rahman said as many as 4785 persons went to abroad from the district in 2018 and 2709 till October in 2019.

Chief guest whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini in her speeches said the foreign job aspirants would be imparted need base training on different trades including technical ones before going to abroad for job.

In this context, she also emphasized for creating much awareness among the common people across the country in a bid to avoid complexities in abroad and urged the journalists to publish positive reports in this regard at their respective media.

DC Abdul Matin in his presidential speeches thanked the officials of the ministry for arranging such the seminar here and urged all to create awareness among the people so that none went to abroad without knowing elaborately about the job.

More than 50 district level officials, upazila chairmen, UNOs, assistant commissioners, civil society members, and NGO activists including media men took part in the seminar.
