Doha: Lauren Dreyer, Vice-President for Global Engagement at SpaceX, met with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, on the sidelines of the Earthna Summit in Doha today. Their discussion focused on the final stages of a collaboration aimed at bringing SpaceX satellite services to Bangladesh, as confirmed by Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary, Apurba Jahangir.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Dreyer, who has worked closely with Elon Musk for the past two decades, expressed optimism about the partnership’s progress. “We’re very close to the finish line. I’ve asked my team to be fully ready for a technical launch by May,” she stated.

During the meeting, Chief Adviser Prof Yunus conveyed national enthusiasm about the initiative. “It’s big news in Bangladesh. People are counting down the days,” he remarked to Dreyer. “And when the time comes, it has to be a big celebration.”

The collaboration is anticipated to commence with a technical rollout before moving to complete deployment, p
ending the resolution of a few final issues. Additionally, PayPal, another company founded by Elon Musk, is being considered to facilitate digital transactions related to SpaceX’s operations in Bangladesh.

“From the outset, this has been one of the most streamlined and well-organised initiatives we’ve been part of,” Dreyer told Prof Yunus. The meeting was also attended by senior officials, including Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman, and Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs Lamiya Morshed.
