Seoul: South Korea’s military on Monday proposed talks with North Korea to prevent border clashes, amid concerns over recent incursions by North Korean troops.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Kim Hong-cheol, the deputy minister for national defence policy, addressed a news briefing where he emphasized the necessity of inter-Korean military talks. The goal of these discussions would be to establish a clear reference line for the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) on the border, aiming to prevent accidental clashes and ease military tensions between the two nations.
The proposal comes in response to escalating concerns over the potential for unintended military confrontations, as recent activities by North Korean troops near the border have raised alarms. The South Korean military is focused on fostering dialogue to ensure stability and reduce the risk of conflict in the region.
