Dhaka: Two brothers of Shaheed Abu Sayed met Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna today. The brothers conveyed “Salam” and good wishes from their parents, expressing their emotions over Professor Yunus’s acknowledgment of Abu Sayed’s sacrifice during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the brothers, Ramzan Ali and Abu Hossain, expressed their honor at Prof Yunus highlighting their brother’s role in the revolution and his visit to their village in Rangpur shortly after becoming Chief Adviser. They felt deeply honored to share the podium with Prof Yunus during the Presidential Guard Regiment’s Guard Salute.
The brothers discussed the ongoing case concerning Abu Sayed’s murder, seeking justice and exemplary punishment for those responsible. They announced plans to establish a foundation in Abu Sayed’s name, aiming to build a model mosque and a medical college in their village. They have requested assistance
from two ministries to achieve these goals. Abu Hossain mentioned that the foundation would focus on aiding the poor and victims of the July-August mass uprising.
Prof Yunus assured full support for Abu Sayed’s family, stating that the Interim Government has instructed the police to expedite the murder investigation and ensure justice. He emphasized the nation’s gratitude toward Shaheed Abu Sayed’s contributions to the uprising against dictatorship and pledged ongoing support to the family.
Prof Yunus reiterated his commitment to the family, encouraging the brothers to relay his “Salam” to their parents. He had previously visited Abu Sayed’s parents in Babonpur village on August 9, a day after assuming his role as Chief Adviser, and paid respects at Abu Sayed’s grave.
