Seven Arrested with Arms and Drugs in Narsingdi

Narsingdi: Seven people were arrested along with arms, drugs, and a large amount of cash during a joint drive conducted by law enforcement agencies in the Kararchar and Jangaila areas of Shibpur upazila in the district early today. The operation was carried out around 3:00 am under the leadership of Lt Col Shamim Rahman, commanding officer of the 9 Signal Battalion. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibpur Model Police Station Mohammad Kohinoor Mia confirmed the matter.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrestees were identified as Jamal Uddin Khoka, 70, also known as Godfather Khoka, son of Mizan Mia of Kararchar village, his wife Selina Begum, 50, Shampa, 24, Alamgir, 37, Shamsu Nahar, 50, Azizul Mia, 32, and Faisal Mia, 20. During the drive, the joint forces recovered one firearm along with two rounds of ammunition, three pistol magazines, 1,600 yaba tablets, Tk 15,40,100 in cash, 17 mobile phones including 13 smartphones and four basic phones, two samurai swords, six bottles of phensedyl, nine bottles of foreign liquor, two fake pistols, two locally-made sharp weapons, and a laptop.

The arrestees, along with the recovered arms, drugs, and other items, were handed over to Shibpur Model Police Station. OC Mohammad Kohinoor Mia stated that the arrestees were produced before a court and sent to jail this afternoon.
