Seminar on ‘Global Updates on Cataract and Refractive Surgery’ Held at CMH

Dhaka: A medical seminar on ‘Global Updates of Cataract and Refractive Surgery’ was held today at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city’s cantonment area. The event was organized by the Department of Ophthalmology at CMH Dhaka, as stated in a press release.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, participants of the seminar discussed various technologies that have advanced eye care. Topics included the latest surgical procedures, advanced intraocular lenses, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, and other complex areas related to eye care. The seminar began with a live surgery demonstration, providing attendees with practical insights into modern surgical techniques.



Panelists also emphasized the role of artificial intelligence in eye care, along with patient safety measures and personal awareness. CMH Dhaka, which is managed by the Bangladesh Army, is known for offering high-quality medical care to both armed forces personnel and civilians. The hospital has gained a reputation for reliability, having treated 2,744 injured individuals during the July uprising.



The seminar was attended by representatives from the Directorate General of Medical Service (DGMS), the Consultant Surgeon General, senior and junior medical officers from CMH Dhaka, leading national ophthalmologists, and media personnel.
