SATKHIRA: A rural games and sports festival for children with special needs was held at the Satkhira district stadium, marking a significant step towards inclusion in sports. The event was inaugurated by Additional District Magistrate Ripon Biswas, who emphasized the importance of integrating children with special needs into mainstream society.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the festival was organized by the Satkhira District Sports Office as part of the annual sports program of the Department of Sports under the Ministry of Youth and Sports. District Information Officer Md. Zaharul Islam Tutul attended the opening ceremony as a special guest, while District Sports Officer Mahbubur Rahman presided over the event.
Additional District Magistrate Ripon Biswas, speaking at the inauguration, highlighted that sports are crucial for developing children’s intelligence and called for collective efforts to support marginalized sections of society. The event was attended by district administration officials
, sports office representatives, and teachers and students from the Sampriti Speech and Hearing Impaired Welfare School.
Prizes were distributed among the winners following the competition, celebrating the achievements of the participating children.
