MANIKGANJ: Ferry services along the Paturia-Daulatdia and Aricha-Kazirhat river routes have been suspended due to dense fog, resulting in halted transportation for vehicles and passengers. The suspension began in the early hours of Thursday, with ferry operations ceasing from 3:30 a.m. as visibility became significantly reduced.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Paturia Ghat, Md Jamal Uddin, stated that all ferries loaded with vehicles and passengers are currently waiting at the Ghats. He emphasized that the suspension is a necessary measure due to the natural occurrence of dense fog, which has blanketed the riverbed and rendered navigation unsafe. The ferry operations will resume once the fog dissipates and visibility improves.
