Khajura (Banke): The Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) is going to start news services in Awadhi language.
Towards this, RSS has inked an agreement with the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City in Banke district.
The language is widely spoken in various districts such as Nawalparasi, Rupandehi, Dang, Banke and Bardiya in the Lumbini Province housing Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis.
The agreement was signed between RSS chief administrator Shital Prasad Mahato and Sub-Metropolis chief administrator office Om Bahadur Khadka here Sunday.
As per the agreement, the only State-run news agency would disseminate news in Awadhi language six days a week.
This diversification of RSS service is believed to benefit media and community that use this language.
It is one of the major languages spoken in Lumbini Province of Nepal.
Banke district has a domination of people speaking Awadhi as their mother language and the dissemination of news in this language would contribute those communities to their empowerment through media, said c
hief administrator Khadka.
The news service would also aid in preserving the language, literature and cultures of Awadhi speakers. RSS chief administrator Mahato extended gratitude to the Sub-Metropolis for its cooperation in launching news service in Awadhi.
According to him, the service is to begin soon.
