Lalmonirhat: Senior Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today emphasized the necessity of conducting a fair election promptly to reinstate democracy in Bangladesh. Speaking at a discussion event held at Borobari Shaheed Abul Kashem High School Ground, Rizvi highlighted the current political challenges, urging vigilance against conspiracies he claims are being orchestrated against the nation.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi attended a football match of the Shaheed Zia Smriti Football Tournament at the same venue before addressing the assembly. He asserted that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia remains steadfast in the country despite facing adversities, contrasting her with Sheikh Hasina, who he accused of abandoning her followers.

Rizvi criticized the Awami League (AL) for what he described as the destruction of democracy over the past 16 years, accusing them of financial misappropriation on a massive scale. He further alleged that Prime Minister S
heikh Hasina has resorted to violence to maintain her authority and continues to direct activities that he claims threaten the country’s stability.

In his concluding remarks, Rizvi urged vigilance to prevent what he termed a “fascist group” from seizing power again. The discussion was also addressed by other BNP leaders, including Organising Secretary (Rangpur division) Principal Asadul Habib Dulu, Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Rafiqul Islam, Rangpur city unit convener Samsuzzaman Samu, and BNP Lalmonirhat district unit joint secretary AKM Mominul Haque.
