Lakshmipur:Administrative approval has been granted for the reconstruction of 17.23 kilometers of rural roads in Ramgati upazila. The project, part of the Bangladesh Sustainable Recovery, Emergency Preparedness and Response Project (B-STRONG), includes the construction of bridges and box culverts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) issued the approval on October 4 and notified the executive engineer in Lakshmipur. The project, titled 'B-STRONG-LGED-LAX/RD-5,' has a 540-day implementation timeline.
The project involves reconstructing 17.230 kilometers of roads, constructing a 34.50-meter box culvert, and a 15-meter-long girder bridge. It will develop three major roads in Ramgati upazila.
On Darbar Road, the section from chainage 80 meters to 2,760 meters will be reconstructed, along with a 16.50-meter box culvert. Shani Road will see reconstruction from chainage 1,300 meters to 5,700 meters, including a 15-meter girder bridge and a nine-meter box culvert. The Char Laxmi-Boyarchar (Mohammadpur Bazar) Road will be reconstructed from zero to 10,150 meters chainage with a nine-meter box culvert.
The LGED has instructed authorities to initiate tenders through the e-GP system promptly. Local sources noted that several roads in southern Ramgati have been in poor condition, causing hardship, particularly during the monsoon, due to deteriorating infrastructure. The project aims to alleviate these issues and improve communication.
