528 Arrested in Dhaka Anti-Crime Operations

Dhaka:A total of 528 individuals were arrested during various anti-crime operations conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) within the last 24 hours across the capital.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the operations led to the filing of 53 cases. The arrests were distributed among different divisions: Ramna Division apprehended 33 individuals, Lalbagh 67, Wari 75, Motijheel 53, Tejgaon 73, Mirpur 102, Gulshan 52, and Uttara 63. Additionally, the Detective Branch (DB) arrested nine individuals, and the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested one.

During these operations, police recovered 3.59 kilograms of cannabis, 218 yaba tablets, 2.6 grams of heroin, two knives, one bus, and nine mobile phones. They also seized 2,600 counterfeit revenue stamps, 3,356 non-judicial stamps, and Tk 1,56,032 in cash.

Among other items recovered were adulterated medicines and cosmetics, along with equipment allegedly used for manufacturing these products. The seized goods comprised 627 bottles of syrup, 6,000 capsules, 30 face washes, 310 shampoos, five kilograms of white powder, 150 empty packages and bottles for hygiene wash, 300 unlabeled syrup bottles, a capsule-filling machine, six pieces of capsule-filling equipment, and two machines used for attaching labels.

The DMP stated that these arrests and seizures resulted from separate operations conducted in various police station areas across the capital. Further legal action against those arrested is currently underway.
