Shariatpur: The re-excavation work of the 4.5-kilometre-long Moulvikandi canal in Sadar Upazila of Shariatpur district commenced today. The programme was inaugurated at Binodpur area around 12 noon by Shariatpur-1 MP and district BNP Organising Secretary Sayeed Ahmed Aslam.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was attended by several notable figures including Executive Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) of the district, Rafiul Islam, and Sadar Upazila Engineer Anisur Rahman. Other attendees included district BNP Vice-President Sirajul Haque Molla, Joint Secretary Dulal Khan, and Sadar Upazila BNP General Secretary Mahbub Arshad Tipu.
The re-excavation project is being implemented by the LGED to improve drainage and water management in the area.
