Bangladesh Narrowly Loses to Sri Lanka in Men’s Asian Games Qualifier

Bangkok: Bangladesh Hockey Team suffered a 3-2 goals defeat to Sri Lanka in their second Pool B match of the Men’s Asian Games Qualifier held in Bangkok, Thailand today.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Ashraful Islam and Aminul Islam scored one goal each for Bangladesh in the 13th and 49th minute respectively. Bangladesh is placed in Pool B along with Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, and Uzbekistan. They are set to play their last group match against Uzbekistan on April 6.



Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh triumphed over Chinese Taipei by 4-3 goals in their opening match. National teams from across Asia are participating in this prestigious tournament for qualification to the Asian Games. Each team competes in a round-robin format to determine the semi-finalists, with the semi-finals scheduled for April 9 and the final for April 10.



The top six teams from this qualifying round will earn a spot in the Asian Games. The 2026 Asian Games, also known as the 20th Asian Games, will be hosted in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
