RCC Holds AEFI Surveillance Orientation Ahead of Measles Vaccination Campaign

Rajshahi: Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) today held an Adverse Event Following Immunization (AEFI) surveillance orientation session ahead of the Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign 2026, scheduled to begin on April 20. The programme was held at the City Hall Room of Nagar Bhaban, with RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton attending as chief guest.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, doctors and nurses from Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) and private hospitals participated in the orientation. In his remarks as chief guest, Mahfuzur Rahman Riton emphasized the government’s focus on the health sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He highlighted the nationwide scope of the vaccination campaign starting April 20 and urged participants to ensure no child is left out.



He further stated that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is committed to implementing a plan for a new Bangladesh and has entrusted him with serving the people of Rajshahi city. He expressed his vision for Rajshahi to become a cleaner, healthier, and more peaceful city, seeking the cooperation of city residents in this endeavor.



RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim presided over the programme, while RCC Chief Health Officer Dr F A M Anjuman Ara Begum also addressed the attendees. World Health Organization (WHO) Surveillance Immunization medical officer Dr Farhana was present as well.



The session aimed to strengthen capacity in detecting, reporting, and managing adverse events following immunization to ensure vaccine safety and maintain public confidence.
